What this pack is

This is a stand-up pouch with a spout, built for refill and dispensing of liquid cosmetic products. The structure is PET/NY/RCPP at 120 micron: PET gives a printable outer layer, NY (nylon) adds puncture and flex resistance, and RCPP (cast polypropylene) forms a heat-sealable, product-contact layer that resists oils and surfactants common in skincare and haircare. The result is a flexible pack that stands on shelf, holds its shape as it empties, and protects contents from moisture and oxygen ingress. The 120 micron thickness is a balance between stiffness for good stand-up performance and flexibility for squeezing. Sizes are customizable, so the same structure can be run from travel-size 50 ml to 1 L refill formats, depending on fill weight and headspace.

Spout, seal and dispensing

The spout is the functional centre of this pack. A secure cap and a tight sealing mechanism prevent leaks during transit and refilling. The spout fitment is welded into the top seal, so the pouch can be filled through the spout or through the open top before the spout is sealed in. For cosmetic liquids, a standard screw cap or a flip-top cap can be specified. The stand-up base uses a folded bottom gusset that expands under fill weight, keeping the pouch upright on a vanity or retail shelf. Because the pouch is flexible, users can squeeze to evacuate almost all product, reducing residual waste compared with rigid bottles that trap liquid at the bottom. The spout also allows controlled pouring into a secondary container or direct application.

Customisation and printing

Sizes, spout types, materials and printing are customizable. The pouch can be supplied in custom dimensions to match a target fill volume, and the spout can be specified as a standard screw cap, flip-top, or other fitment. Material options include PET/NY/RCPP as standard, plus recyclable mono-material PE or PP, compostable PLA/PBS, and degradable options where the application allows. Printing is available by rotogravure up to 10 colours, digital, or flexographic. Rotogravure gives the lowest unit cost at high volumes and is suited to photographic imagery and brand colours; digital suits short runs and frequent artwork changes. Add-ons such as tear notches, hang holes, and windows can be incorporated. The pack is aimed at private-label cosmetic companies, contract manufacturers, and distributors.

Where it is used

This refill pouch is used for liquid skincare and haircare products: facial toner, lotion, cleanser, shampoo, conditioner, and other liquid skincare refills. It also suits makeup removers, micellar water, body wash, and hand sanitiser. Because the pack is lightweight and ships flat before filling, it reduces transport weight and storage space compared with rigid bottles. For brands, a refill format supports sustainability positioning and can lower packaging cost per use. For customers, it offers convenient refilling and less waste. For the environment, it uses less plastic and fewer materials than a rigid bottle of the same capacity. The pouch is also compatible with refill systems where the consumer pours from the pouch into a durable primary bottle.

Filling, sealing and practical notes

Filling can be done through the spout or through the open top before the top seal is closed. Spout-fitment sealing requires a heat sealer with a matching jaw profile; the seal parameters depend on the RCPP layer and should be validated on the filling line. The 120 micron structure runs on standard vertical form-fill-seal or pre-made pouch filling lines with spout insertion. For low-volume launches, digital printing starts from 100 pcs for pouches, with a lead time of 10-15 working days after artwork approval. Rotogravure printing starts from 10,000 pcs, with a lead time of 20-25 working days. The trade-off to note: PET/NY/RCPP gives strong barrier and toughness but is a multi-material laminate that is not recyclable in most kerbside streams. If recyclability is the priority, a mono-material PE or PP structure can be specified, but barrier to oxygen and aroma may be lower, which matters for oxidation-prone formulas.
