What this pack is

This is a flexible pouch built for frozen dumplings, frozen snacks and other quick-freeze products. It uses a PET/PE laminated structure at 140 micron as standard, with thickness, material combination and dimensions all open to customization. The PET outer layer gives the pack stiffness, print quality and puncture resistance at low temperatures. The PE inner layer provides the heat-seal surface and keeps the pack flexible in the freezer. Together they slow moisture and oxygen ingress, which is what causes freezer burn, texture loss and flavour drift over long frozen storage.

The pouch is available as a flat bottom bag, side gusset bag or stand-up pouch. Each format holds its shape on a shelf or in a freezer basket, and the flat bottom and side gusset versions stack or stand with less wasted space than a plain pillow pack. The 140 micron gauge is heavy enough for cold-chain handling without making the bag awkward for shoppers to open and reseal.

Features and closures

The resealable zipper is the main functional feature. It lets customers open the bag, take out what they need and close it again, which reduces food waste and keeps the remaining dumplings protected from freezer air. The zipper sits below a tear notch, so the pack opens cleanly without scissors and the closure stays aligned after repeated use.

The laminate and reinforced seals are chosen for tear resistance and seal strength. Frozen packs get knocked around during cold-chain transport, and weak seals or brittle film can fail at low temperatures. The material structure is designed to stay flexible in the freezer rather than cracking. Food-contact materials are produced to FDA and international food packaging regulations.

Printing is customizable, so the bag can carry brand artwork, cooking instructions, nutritional information and batch coding. The flat bottom and stand-up formats give a stable printable panel for shelf presentation, which matters when the pack competes in a freezer cabinet. Recyclable and reduced-material structures can be quoted on request if your market requires them.

Where it is used

The pack is aimed at dumpling producers, frozen food companies, wholesalers and distributors. Typical fills include frozen dumplings, potstickers, gyoza, wontons, frozen snacks, paratha, samosas and other quick-freeze items. Pack sizes range from single-serve portions up to family or foodservice formats, depending on the pouch dimensions and fill weight you specify.

Because the structure resists moisture, oxygen and odour transfer, it also suits frozen products that pick up freezer smells easily, such as seafood dumplings or seasoned fillings. The zipper makes it practical for multi-serve packs that are opened and closed repeatedly over weeks.

Filling, sealing and handling

These pouches run on standard form-fill-seal or pre-made pouch filling lines. The PE inner layer seals with heat, and the seal window should be set for the 140 micron laminate so the closure is strong but not brittle. Cold product should be filled at freezer temperatures, and the pack should be sealed before it enters the blast freezer or cold store.

The main trade-off is material choice. PET/PE gives a good moisture barrier and strong seals at a workable cost, but it is not a high oxygen barrier on its own. If your dumplings are sensitive to oxidation or you need very long frozen shelf life, a structure with an EVOH or foil layer may be better. Mono-material PE or reduced-material options can improve recyclability, but they usually give up some barrier. The right answer depends on your product, your target shelf life and your market's packaging rules.
