What this pouch is

This is a flexible, collapsible water pouch built from a three-layer PET/NY/RCPP laminate at 120 micron. The PET outer layer carries print and resists scuffing, the NY (nylon) core adds puncture and flex resistance so the bag can be rolled and folded without cracking, and the RCPP food-contact layer seals cleanly and keeps the liquid away from the structural films. The result is a pouch that holds water, milk, juice or coffee and stays intact through repeated squeezing and folding.

Unlike a rigid bottle, the pack has no fixed shape of its own. Empty, it collapses flat or rolls into a small bundle that slips into a pocket, backpack or luggage. Filled, the base opens out and the pouch stands upright on a table or camp surface. That combination of pack-flat storage and stand-up pouring is what makes it practical for cycling, hiking and travel, where weight and volume matter more than a hard shell.

Features and closure

The spout is the functional centre of the pack. A secure spout with a protective lid closes the pouch, prevents spills and stops the closure from opening accidentally during movement. The lid shields the drinking surface from dirt and grit when the pouch is carried on a belt, bike frame or backpack. A metal clip lets the pouch hang from luggage, belts or pack straps so it stays accessible without occupying a pocket.

The material is food-grade and BPA-free, suitable for drinking water and other beverages. Sealing is strong and the film is wear-resistant, which supports repeated refilling rather than single use. Because the pouch is flexible, it can be folded, flattened or rolled when empty, cutting storage space and carried weight compared with a rigid bottle. The construction is also compatible with custom branding: digital printing, size adjustment and spout options are available, so the same format can run as a plain hydration pack or as a branded retail item.

Where it is used

The format suits any drink that has to travel light. Typical uses include drinking water on hikes and camping trips, milk and juice portions for travel, coffee or cold brew concentrates, and sports hydration during running, climbing, gym sessions, cycling and fishing. Pack sizes are customizable, so the same pouch can be produced as a single-serve sachet or a larger multi-use hydration bag depending on the end market.

For brands, the pouch doubles as a sample or promotional item: it is light to ship, takes up little shelf or counter space, and can carry retail graphics on the front panel. For contract manufacturers and co-packers, the spouted format fits existing liquid filling lines once the correct spout and fitment are specified.

Filling, sealing and material trade-offs

Filling is done through the spout after the pouch body has been formed and sealed, or through the open top before the final seal depending on the line configuration. The 120 micron laminate is stiff enough to hold its shape during filling and stand-up display, but flexible enough to fold without stressing the seals. Spout fitment, cap type and pouch dimensions should be confirmed against the filler head before production, because a mismatched spout slows the line and risks leaks.

The PET/NY/RCPP structure is chosen for toughness and food-contact safety rather than for high-barrier oxygen protection. It performs well for water and short-shelf-life drinks; for oxygen-sensitive products such as coffee or dairy, a higher-barrier laminate or an added functional layer should be considered. Recyclable mono-material PE or PP options and compostable PLA/PBS structures are available for brands prioritising end-of-life over maximum barrier. Lead time depends on print method: digital runs typically ship in 10–15 working days after artwork approval, while rotogravure runs take 20–25 working days.
