What this pack is

This is a free-shape stand-up pouch. It is not limited to a rectangle; the outline is die-cut to the shape you need, so the silhouette can match a brand mark, a product form or a seasonal edition. The base is a flat bag that stands on the shelf without a separate support.

The standard build is OPP/PET/aluminium/PE at around 100 micron. The PET layer carries the print and adds stiffness. The aluminium layer blocks light and works as the moisture and oxygen barrier. The PE layer faces the product and provides the seal. Thickness and material combination are customizable, so a lighter or heavier structure can be quoted against the fill weight and the shelf life you are targeting.

Features and finishing

Food-grade materials are used throughout the structure. The aluminium core limits light transmission and resists water and moisture ingress, which is what protects dry, hygroscopic or light-sensitive contents during storage and transport.

The pouch is die-cut. Rounded corners are cut cleanly without burrs, so the edges do not catch on handling equipment or on the consumer's hand. A tear notch is placed where the pack opens, giving a controlled tear across the top seal rather than a random rip.

Printing is high-definition rotogravure, which holds fine detail and consistent colour across large runs. Up to 10 colours are available. Digital printing is an option for short runs. Common add-ons for this format include a zipper for resealability, a one-way degassing valve for roasted coffee, a window, a hang hole and a carry handle.

Where it is used

Special-shape stand-up pouches suit dry goods that benefit from barrier protection and from standing upright on a shelf or in a display box. Typical fills are roasted coffee beans and ground coffee, snack mixes, nuts, dried fruit, tea, confectionery, pet treats and small dry ingredients.

Because the shape is die-cut, this format is often chosen for gift packs, sampler sets and limited editions where the pack itself is part of the product presentation. The flat base allows the filled pouch to stand without a carton, which reduces secondary packaging.

Filling, sealing and handling

The pouch runs on standard form-fill-seal or pre-made pouch filling lines. The flat base needs to be opened and seated before filling; a good fill is normally around 70-80% of the internal volume so the base holds its shape and the top seal stays flat. Sealing is by heat, and the PE inner layer dictates the seal window.

The trade-off with an aluminium-containing laminate is that it is not recyclable in mono-material streams. If recyclability is a priority, mono-material PE or PP structures and compostable PLA/PBS options are available, but they will not match the same moisture and light barrier. Choose the structure against the shelf life and the distribution conditions the product actually faces.

Minimum order quantity starts from 100 pcs for pouches with digital printing and from 10,000 pcs with rotogravure. Digital runs ship in 10-15 working days after artwork approval; rotogravure runs take 20-25 working days. Free stock pouch samples are available; the customer covers courier only.
